Flores may be activated today

Cardinals' manager Tony La Russa stated that rehabbing reliever Randy Flores may be activated and with the team by tonight.

With the four-game Padres series just underway and the Brewers coming to St. Louis for an additional four-game set, La Russa feels like he wants that second lefthander in the bullpen.

Unclear was who might get sent down to make room on the roster, but it might not be a pitcher, as some noises have been made that the Cards may want to go with 13 arms, one more than a major league team usually carries. This may be due to the recent spike in offense that has reduced the need for another hitter.

The decision has not been made public yet, but may have already been decided in La Russa's office. We may not know until game time tonight, when the Cardinals take on the Padres in the second game of the series at Busch Stadium at 7:15 p.m. CDT.

Earlier news regarding Flores will warrant a quick posting up until game time.
