Manatees use big inning to defeat Palm Beach

Palm Beach Cardinals (High-A): Lost 4-3 last night to the Brevard County Manatees, unable to shut down two late inning rallies.

Kenneth Maiques was credited for hold, but also got saddled with a loss, his third hold and now with a 1-3 record. All this for facing only five batters. Maiques had replaced Mark Diapoules on the mound to start the eighth inning, PB up 3-1.

Maiques struck out the first batter he faced. Things went downhill from there. He walked the next batter, who stole second base before he gave up a basehit. He then walked two more in a row, the latter with the bases loaded. Suffice to say it just wasn't his night, but such hardships will hopefully give him something from which to learn.

PB's leadoff hitter Tyler Henley went 2-for-4 with two doubles.
