MiLB ... AA-Springfield drilled in Tulsa, facing Kip Wells tonight

TULSA, OK--The Double-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies pounded the Springfield Cardinals 14-2 in Texas League action yesterday, scoring in six of the eight innings in which they batted.

Suffering the loss was Kyle Sadlowski (2-1, 5.05), giving up 10 runs, all of them earned, on 11 hits in only 4.2 innings. Sadlowski walked five while striking out one.

Also hit up for two runs apiece in the shellacking were Jonathan Mikrut and Luke Gregerson.

Not much offense to speak of this time, Mark Shorey going 2-for-4 and accounting for two RBIs, one each on his single and double. Cody Haerther also doubled, his only hit in four at-bats.

These two Double-A squads will face each other twice more, the next game tonight at 7:05 CDT.

The probables are, for Springfield, Adam Daniels (1-3, 6.41), and for Tulsa, former ML-level Card's pitcher Kip Wells (0-0, -.--). Wells is just coming off the 60-day Dl. This start will be his second, and most likely, final rehab appearance before rejoining the parent club Rockies for the second half of the major league season.

Having Wells pitch against the AA-Cardinals is an excellent opportunity for the minor league hitters to "get a taste" of a pitcher who has had a lot of major league level experience.
