Pujols' All-Star at-bat

The last time Albert Pujols was on an All-Star team, he never got in the game, even when St. Louis Cardinals' manager Tony La Russa was the NL All-Star manager.

But this year's All-Star manager, Clint Hurdle, of the Colorado Rockies, not only invited Pujols to join the roster (Pujols was not voted in by fans or players), he put him in the lineup, batting cleanup as the DH.

In his first at-bat, leading off the second inning, Pujols grounded out to AL All-Star third baseman, Alex Rodriguez.

Pujols was not invited by Major League Baseball to participate in the Home Run Derby last night.

4thebirds will post any other Cardinals action in the 2008 MLB All-Star game.
