Walters, Barton, big in AAA-Redbirds rout of Sea Dogs

Memphis Redbirds (AAA): P.J. Walters extended his record to 8-2 with six full innings of work and a lot of support from his team's offense in a 15-4 pummeling of the Portland Sea Dogs at Autozone Park in Memphis, Tennessee last night.

Walters walked four and struck out four, giving up only two runs on three hits.

Matt Clement worked two innings of middle relief, also giving up two runs on three hits.

Matthew Scherer closed in a non-save situation, putting in one inning and allowing one hit.

Believe it or not, there were no dingers in the boatload of Redbirds offense. There were, however, plenty of other extra-basehits.

Doubling were Brian Barton, Rico Washington, David Freese, Bryan Anderson, and D'Angelo Jimenez.

Freese also added a triple to his 2-for-4 game.

Barton's double was part of a 2-for-2 night, scoring three times, collecting three RBIs, and drawing three walks.

Nick Stavinoha was 2-for-6 with three RBIs.

Jarrett Hoffpauir went 2-for-4 and scored a run.

Along with his double, Rico Washington was 2-for-4, scoring three runs.
