Ludwick for Holliday or Holliday for Ludwick?

... The Cards just don't match up with what the Rockies expect to get for Holliday, and considering what he is looking for in a contract, it makes much more sense to keep Ludwick.

Holliday is good, but there is a question of how effective he might swing the bat outside the Colorado state lines.

As usual, I say, if you can't substantially improve the Cardinals or fill some obvious need, then leave it alone. That's how the Cardinals ended up keeping Ludwick in place last season and were amply rewarded.

Colorado Rockies - Schedule, players, major league baseball news, stats, team roster & More: "The St. Louis Cardinals have taken an aggressive approach to acquiring Rockies outfielder Matt Holliday.

The Rockies explored trade possibilities for Holliday, third baseman Garrett Atkins and center fielder Willy Taveras during baseball's general manager meetings, which ended Thursday.

They made it known that, in return for Holliday and Atkins, they want a rotation-ready pitcher; bullpen help, especially a left-hander; and a right-handed-hitting left fielder to pair with left-handed Seth Smith."
