The Raw Story | Baseball World Series champion Phillies release Japan's Taguchi

4thebirds...
... I think we all still miss So Taguchi in St. Louis.

A better than average pinch hitter, and a pretty good clutch hitter, I seem to recall, the only problem with Tachuchi may have been that he was a utility outfielder in a town that, at the time, was getting stocked with other quality outfielders. And since La Russa doesn't seem to believe you need a fourth outfielder while you have all these infielders to play the outer gardens, well, that may have pushed Taguchi out of the Gateway City.

But there was no personality problem, definitely no ego problem. Maybe a baserunning problem from time to time, but I recall quite clearly, that Taguchi was not alone in the mental baserunning mistake department.

No trouble with Taguchi's hustle, either, and he gave the Phillies a lot of quality bench.

Surely, Cardinal Nation hopes Taguchi lands on his spikes somewhere in the major leagues.
