Cards present Cubs with six-pack as Carp W's at Wrigley

The Cards smoked the former Card, Randy Wells, the Cubs starter to open the Cubs/Cards rivalry for the 2010 season today at Wrigley Field in Chicago.

The first six Cards to the dish recorded hits, Ryan Ludwick with a double, as the Cards tallied five runs in the top of the first inning. Wells failed to record a single out when Cubs' manager Lou Pineilla gave him the hook.

The Cubs managed one run before Ludwick put the game out of reach in the late innings with a two-run shot into the left field bleachers.

Of not is that Fernando Salas took the mound for the first time as a major league, the only Cub reaching when Felipe Lopez threw wild off a ground ball chance.

The 7-1 victory helped the Cards keep pace with the NL Central's first place Reds.

The Cards play again tomorrow at Wrigley with a proposed start by Adam Ottavino.
