Reds edge Cards out of first place

In a game that was far less than a pitcher's duel, the St. Louis Cardinals were edged by the Cincinnati Reds Tuesday night at Busch Stadium.

Both squads were locked in a tie for first place in the NL Central Division. The Reds now have sole possession of first place.

The rubber match of the series is set for Wednesday night at Busch Stadium. The Cards will have to win to knot up the NL Central. If the Reds take the game (and the series), they will leave the Lou up two games on the Cards.

Of note were former Cardinals Scott Rolen, who homered twice, and Aaron Miles, who made his way back to the "bigs" and was in uniform, once more a Cardinal. A fan favorite, Miles flew out in a pinch hitting at bat.

Felipe Lopez was injured on a ground ball and had to leave the game.

Jon Jay and Colby Rasmus homered for the Redbirds.
