Cardinals and CBS Radio team up to aid tornado victims

CBS Radio Personalities to Collect Donations at Busch on Wednesday, May 4

ST. LOUIS (April 29, 2011) – The St. Louis Cardinals announced today they have teamed with the club’s radio broadcast partners, the CBS Radio Group (KMOX 1120 AM, FRESH 102.5 and Y98 FM) to host a collection drive before the 7:15 P.M. game against the Florida Marlins on Wednesday, May 4th at Busch Stadium. All proceeds from the collection will be donated to the United Way to assist the families affected by last week’s tornados in St. Louis.

All three CBS Radio stations will be broadcasting live outside of Busch Stadium from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and the on-air personalities from each station will be collecting donations outside each of the ballpark’s gates. The Cardinals are also offering a special $10 ticket to that night’s game, with the team donating 50% of proceeds of the sale to the United Way. The collection drive and special ticket initiative is in addition to the Cardinals other efforts to help those affected by last week’s tornados. The team made a $30,000 donation to the American Red Cross, with $20,000 coming directly from the Cardinals and $10,000 from the team’s charitable foundation, Cardinals Care.

The team is also providing tickets to the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army and the United Way to be distributed to rescue workers, volunteers and families impacted by the disaster.
