Is Tulowitzki on table as potential Redbird?

It's one of those hot spring training rumors, but it could be a biggie.

There's scuttlebutt about the possibility of the Cardinals going after Rockie's shortstop, Troy Tulowitzki. That's enough to make Cardinal Nation salivate, but there's always a cost, and we're not talking his multi-million contract which has eight years remaining.

Don't forget, Adam Wainwright isn't signed yet, either.

But maybe more important is that the Rox would probably want some of the best Cards' prospects in any deal for the established star shortstop.

There are those that would say: "Hey, you've worked hard to develop players in arguable the best farm system in baseball. It's not a matter of if, but when these youngsters will develop and pay off. The point being, when that farmer's payday comes along, there'll be at least a season or two of low mileage, low pay, as opposed to paying a star's big baggage dollar carrier for nearly a decade.

There's a few sparks left in the hot stove, and Troy'll stoke those fires for a good piece of spring training.
