ST. LOUIS, Mo., August 25, 2014 – St.
Louis Cardinals Senior Vice President/General Manager John
Mozeliak announced this afternoon that Cardinals All-Star catcher
Yadier Molina and pitcher Michael Wacha have shown
continued improvement in their injury rehabilitation and that both players will
report to the team’s Springfield, Mo. Double-A club this week with plans to
continue their rehabilitation.
Molina will report to Springfield tomorrow (August 26) where he will go through
a full workout with the Springfield club. Wacha is scheduled to report and
throw a “live” batting practice session to the Springfield team on Wednesday,
August 27.
Wacha, 5-5, 2.79 ERA, has been sidelined since June 18 due to a right shoulder
stress reaction. Molina, who is batting .287 with 7 HR’s and 30 RBI, has been
sidelined since July 10 after having suffered a torn ligament in his right thumb
that required corrective surgery.
