Votto spoils Garcia comeback

ST. LOUIS--Joey Votto of the Cincinnati Reds ended the nearly six shutout innings by the St. Louis Cardinals' Jaime Garcia, recently reunited with the team, in a Reds 4-0 shutout win Tuesday at Busch Stadium.

The Reds' Mike Leake pitched eight shutout innings in the skunking, making himself a favorable prospect as the MLB nears the Friday trade deadline.

Votto's sixth inning blast was good for three RBI, and would become the game's winning hit. The Reds added a fourth run in the top of the ninth.

The Reds and Cards square off again Wednesday as their three-game series continues in St. Louis.
