Yadi treys in 8th, Cards first to 60

CHICAGO--St. Louis Cardinals catcher, Yadier Molina, spoiled a Chicago White Sox bid for a shutout with a bases-clearing triple in the eighth inning at U. S. Cellular Field, securing a 3-2 lead which would hold up for a win.

The Cardinals took the two-game set from the White Sox, avenging a two-game series loss to Chicago's South Siders earlier in the season.

The win makes the Cardinals the first MLB team to reach the 60-game win mark.

St. Louis improves to 60-34 while the White Sox fall to 42-50.

Miguel Socolovich (4-1) earns the win for the Cardinals after starter Lance Lynn put in a successful start. Cards closer, Trevor Rosenthal notched his 29th save.

Zach Duke suffered the loss for Chicago.

Molina and teammates return to Busch Stadium Thursday to begin an 11-game home stand, starting with a rainout makeup versus the Kansas City Royals.

With the season-long home stand, the Cardinals have a chance to bolster their Central Division lead of six games over Pittsburgh.

The Cards upcoming home stand looks like this:
July 23 vs. Royals
July 24, 25, 26 vs. Braves
July 27, 28, 29 vs. Reds
July 30, 31 & Aug 1, 2 vs. Rockies
