Bottom-order strong helps Lackey to Cards win

ST. LOUIS--John Lackey (10-7) came within a couple outs of a complete game Saturday when the St. Louis Cardinals sank the Miami Marlins, 6-2.

Steven Cishek mopped up the remaining Marlins but didn't qualify for a save.

The Cards got some great production out of the bottom half of their lineup, specifically, from the fifth through ninth batting positions, including, in order from the fifth spot: Yadier Molina, 2-for-4; Stephen Piscotty, 3-for-4, Kolton Wong, 1-for-4, Mark Reynolds, 2-for-4, John Lackey, 2-for-3.

Piscotty had the best day with the bat with is 3-for-4 performance, and is making Cardinals' manager a believer with every new set of at-bats.

Homering for St. Louis were Randal Grichuk (solo) and Reynolds (3-run).

The Cardinals go for a series sweep of Miami Sunday at Busch Stadium.
