Cards take first of 4-game set in Arizona

PHOENIX--The St. Louis Cardinals jumped on the first game of a four-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks, winning 5-3 in front of less then 20,000 fans at Chase Field.

Cards's starter, Lance Lynn, got back on track, pitching six full innings and picking up the win. Lynn scattered nine hits, gave up two runs (both earned), a couple walks, and three strikeouts. Arizona's Welington Castillo went yard on Lynn.

Trevor Rosenthal picked save number 39.

Yadier Molina had a two-RBI single and was the only Card with more than one hit, going 2-for-5.

Matt Carpenter hit homer number 19 of his season for St. Louis.
