Garcia and Cards' bats deadly combo to Diamondbacks

PHOENIX--Jaime Garcia (6-4) allowed only one run in six innings on the mound for the St. Louis Cardinals at Chase Field in a 9-1 trouncing of the Arizona Diamondbacks Tuesday.

The win gives the Cards the first two in a four-game series with Arizona.

St. Louis helped themselves by giving Garcia a four-run lead before he took to the hill, and later added two in each of the fourth and sixth innings. The Cards tacked on one more in the seventh. Arizona's only run came in the fourth.

Peter Bourjos homered for the Cards, a solo shot in the seventh inning.

Tommy Pham filled the three-hole in the St. Louis lineup rather well, going 3-for-5, including a triple. Pham didn't amass any RBI but let teammates plate him instead, scoring three times.
