PHOENIX--John Lackey (11-8) got off to a rocky start on the hill for the St. Louis Cardinals, giving up a first inning home run to Arizona Diamondbacks' Paul Goldschmidt, but that was it. The Cards won 3-1.
No more runs for the D-backs due to Lackey's poise, going seven innings. Lackey scattered seven hits, and the one run he gave up was only run of the game.
Kevin Siegrist (H-24) tossed the eighth inning to set up closer Trevor Rosenthal's fortieth save of the season.
St. Louis goes for the series sweep today in Arizona.
