Wacha gives Cards enough chance to win again

ST. LOUIS--St. Louis Cardinals' starter Michael Wacha (14-4) gave up nine hits to the Pittsburgh Pirates Wednesday at Busch Stadium, but only a couple runs (all the Bucs could muster) in a 4-2 Cards' win.

Wacha went six innings.

Kevin Siegrist earned his 22nd hold with a couple innings of hit-less relief and Trevor Rosenthal grabbed his 35th save.

Gerrit Cole (14-6) took the loss for the Pirates, giving up all four Redbirds' runs, three of them earned.

Like the Pirates, the Cards tallied nine hits on the game, but the Cards generated a couple more runs.

Yadier Molina had an extra-base type of day, cracking a double and triple, the triple serving as the game-winning hit.

The Cards go for a sweep of the Pirates Thursday night at Busch Stadium. The Cards have won all five home games versus the Bucs this season.

Friday begins a three-game series (home) against the Miami Marlins.
