Cards avoid complete disaster in Cincy

CINCINNATI-GREAT AMERICAN BALLPARK--St. Louis Cardinals' starter Michael Wacha (16-5) earned win number 16 as his teammates put some numbers on the scoreboard to finish out the "five game" set with the Cincinnati Reds with a 9-2 victory.

Great American Ballpark turned out to be not so great for St. Louis manager, Mike Matheny, and his charges, the Cards winning only one out five games in four days.

Tommy Pham and recently returned Matt Adams both his two-run homers for the Cardinals, who rallied for two in the fifth and sixth innings, then went ballistic in the eighth with a five-spot.

Doubling for the Redbirds were: Kolton Wong, Mark Reynolds, Jon Jay, and Jason Heyward.

St. Louis has today off, and begin a three-game series in Milwaukee versus the Brewers tomorrow.
