Cardinals Fun Facts - Economic Impact

ECONOMIC IMPACT
  • The Cardinals bring more than 3 million fans downtown each year, with more than a million from outside the state of Missouri and over 90% from outside of the City of St. Louis.
  • The direct and indirect economic impact of the 2015 Cardinals’ regular season on the St. Louis region was $343.9 million, according to the St. Louis Regional Chamber.
  • The St. Louis Regional Chamber calculates that the economic impact of the Cardinals appearance in the Divisional Playoffs will reach $5.9 million per game. This estimate is based on the assumption that the games will draw 46,500 attendees per game. Historically, out of town visitors constitute some 40% of Cardinals attendance.
  • Since moving into the new ballpark, the team (and affiliates in Busch such as concessionaire Delaware North Sportservice) has paid more than $280 million in direct taxes to the city and state, including $13,794,000 to the city of St. Louis in 2014 and $22,015,000 to the State of Missouri in 2014.
