ST. LOUIS, Mo., December 12, 2016 –
The St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues are teaming up to host One
Nation Classic, a closing ceremonies event to the 2017 Bridgestone NHL
Winter Classic to raise money for the clubs’ respective children’s
charities, on Sunday, January 8 at Busch Stadium.
The event will kick-off at 11:30 a.m. with Blues players competing in a skills competition for locker room bragging rights.
Immediately following, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Blues Owner Tom
Stillman and Cardinals Owner Bill DeWitt III will face off as team
captains in St. Louis’ Greatest Pick-Up Hockey Game featuring teams made
up of Blues & Cardinals alumni, as well as other local celebrities
and team owners. A complete list of celebrities will be announced on
December 16. A hockey game pitting local police officers against local fire fighters will follow at approximately 2:15 p.m.
“This
is such a great way to cap off a signature event while raising money for
kids in St. Louis,” said Tom Stillman, Blues Chairman and Governor.
“It also provides a wonderful opportunity for fans of both teams to
salute our local police and fire personnel as well.”
“We
are excited to be teaming up with the Blues to produce a family oriented
event as we cap off an exciting week of hockey at Busch Stadium, said
Cardinals President Bill DeWitt III. “The One Nation Classic promises
to be a fun, affordable way for families to experience the excitement
surrounding the Winter Classic while also helping children in our
community.”
General
admission tickets for the event are $10 each and can be purchased
online beginning Tuesday, December 13 at 10:00 a.m. CT at cardinals.com/onenationclassic.
